TANTANGAN DAN PELUANG PENERAPAN KURIKULUM DEEP LEARNING DI SD NURMIYAZAKI ISLAMIC CHARACTER SCHOOL MAKASSAR: PERSPEKTIF GURU DAN SISWA

Abstract
This study aims to identify and analyze the challenges and opportunities in implementing the deep learning curriculum at SD Nurmiyazaki Islamic Character School (NICS) Makassar. The deep learning approach in elementary education emphasizes the development of critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and reflective skills through meaningful and project-based learning. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal several major challenges, including limited teacher understanding of deep learning concepts, uneven student readiness, time constraints, and insufficient digital infrastructure. On the other hand, significant opportunities were identified, such as the flexibility of the national curriculum, advancements in educational technology, the digital native characteristics of students, and a school culture supportive of instructional innovation. This study recommends continuous teacher training, the provision of adequate digital learning facilities, and the strengthening of collaboration between schools, students, and parents to support the successful implementation of the deep learning curriculum.
