Abstract

Corn husk waste is one of the by-products of agricultural activities that is often underutilized and has the potential to cause environmental pollution if left to accumulate. Through this community service program, training on the utilization of corn husk waste was conducted for junior high school students as an effort to raise environmental awareness and foster creative skills. The activities included socialization regarding the impacts of organic waste, demonstrations of processing corn husks into value-added products such as handicrafts, recycled paper, and compost materials, as well as hands-on practice facilitated by the community service team. The participants, consisting of junior high school students, were actively involved from the planning stage to the production process. The results indicated an increase in students’ knowledge of waste management, along with the creation of several creative corn husk–based products with marketable value. This activity is expected to foster environmental awareness, develop creativity, and serve as an inspiration for entrepreneurship development based on local resources.
